I started my own online magazine. After writing for many other online magazines, I figured why not create my own? From there, I took a weekend over Spring Break 2011 and created Love Twenty, an online magazine for twenty-somethings that specializes in college, career, and everything in between. Now almost two years later, I have a team of more than 150 writers and 25 interns. When I do something, I do it big!I've interviewed celebrities. I didn't big city girls should get to have all the fun, so I took the initiative to get in contact with some big names myself. I interviewed Colin Egglesfield, opposite Kate Hudson in "Something Borrowed," Outasight, who sings "Tonight is the Night," Liz Lee of "My Life as Liz," and even "American Idol" finalist Haley Reinhart on the red carpet at the 2012 Girls Who Rock concert.
I get experience in any way I can. I served as the features editor of the Northern Iowan, where I edited numerous articles per week and had a blast designing the layout of the "Campus Life" section of the newspaper. As much as I loved working at the newspaper, I decided to take my last year of college to completely focus on magazines.
I was also a writing contributor to Teen.com, where I was able to unleash my love for teens and pop culture through writing about everything from celebrity relationship gossip to how Snooki looks a billion times better without the heavy orange glow.
I was also able to live out my dream in New York City last summer working as the Love and College intern at Seventeen — the internship I had been working so hard toward. Since my internship, I've been able to continue working with the magazine as a Buzz Blogger on Seventeen.com and have also done reporting work in the "Love" section of the print publication.
Now that I'm graduating, it's time to find my dream job. I'll be graduating in just months now and I can't wait to be back in New York City working toward my dream.
